&you don't know how to say it.

those times when you're trying to explain to your best friend
how you feel
and you thought you got it across,
but all they say is
"like, what do you mean?"

this is what i mean.

its sad when people you know become people you knew.
when you can walk right past someone like they were never a big part of your life.
how you used to be able to talk to them for hours, and now,
you can barely even look at them.

it happens. it does.

but today
even though i don't explain things well to them (ha)
i'm thankful for my friends.&
for nate, who always has a running analogy for everything he says.
and if its not running, its pasta.
for kaitlyn, who knows when to rub your back and say "its okay."
for summer, who is incredibly hysterical and gets me in trouble
for being irreverent during church...
for chas, who can spit out song lyrics like no one's business.
&for mallory, who can always tell when i need a hug and a "jess, i love you!"

because no man is an island.
we need people to interact with.
because people hurt& people heal.
its just how it is.

grateful for the knowledge that even though we might walk on paths
strewn with pebbles that may hurt our feet,
Christ has walked the stoniest path of all.
he's only a prayer away.
he's real, &i know it.

&thats my rant for the day.
(i could go on, but my foot fell asleep.)

loves,
jessica :)

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

ha. and you thought it was wednesday.

i definitely got out of bed this morning and thought it was wednesday.
false. tis tuesday.
and i find that disappointing.

there's something wrong here.
well, two things.
really really wrong.
one: the week is not even two days gone and i'm ready to lounge around all day in my jammies.
two: i'm sitting at the computer to do my homework and its not even 4:00. whaaat?

and this would be me skipping second period.

hey don't worry.
i'm just really really pretty sometimes.
haha.
i love only going to two periods of school.
and then hearing our song on the radio.
three times.
then putting my ipod on shuffle,
and having it come on again.

i think i'll make some paper chains.
one counting down until graduation,
the other till christmas.
and another one until the first day of college.
maybe another one until my eighteenth birthday?
that sounds nice.

have a lovely tuesday.
loves,
jessica.

i have too much time on my hands.

i have much too much time on my hands when i'm sick.

so i made a wish list.

have a great day. :)

heaven in a bowl.

heaven is when your amazing aunt michelle buys enough thai food to feed all the sickies in the house.
h-e-double hockeysticks is when you're told you have to share your spring rolls and pad thai with all the sickies in the house.

oh well. it was delicious.

today, yesterday, and the week before that.

its safe to say its been an interesting week.
luckily its almost over.
ice cream?
heck yes.
from the tub?
even better.
good thing summer is gonna kick my butt in an hour.

the boys didn't do so hot this year.
thats not to say that the actual boys aren't hot. ha.
this kid? he's connor kent. pretty amazing.
and, we're almost cousins.
which makes him cooler.

wish me luck at the gym.
have a nice day!

the joys of teenage-hood.

i feel like alot of kids my age don't like teenagers.
i hear a lot of this: "ugh. i hate high school. i can't wait to graduate. high schoolers are so dumb."

my opinion on the subject changes from day to day.

i'm on the stake youth council.
every sunday except for fast sundays, myself and 23 other young men & women visit each ward's ward conference. it is extremely tiring and sometimes deathly boring.

but i love it.

it is so refreshing to see all sorts of high school aged kids get together for an hour and have spiritual experiences.

it really is the highlight of my weekend.
plus, i get to do it with some super cute priests
and some pretty amazing laurels.

my favorite part of ward conferences is when president shaw sustains the young women class presidencies.
he asks the laurel class president, first and second counselors, and secretary to stand.
he then asks for the members of the laurel class to sustain their presidency.

every single week, without fail, at least two young men raise their right hand to the square to sustain the laurel class presidency.

we get a huge kick out of it &
the young men get embarrassed.
its all good.

we're weird, and we like it.

the conversations going on in the living room at the moment sound something like this.

"hey dad, wouldn't it be funny if someone slipped you a jalapeno? bet that would feel good on the way down."
"no ryan, that would not be funny. i wouldn't buy you skiis if you did that."
"thats good, i wanted a snowboard."

"bella, you're the only girl who looks good fat."

"that is a sweeeeet ear zit!"

"your zits have been a source of joy since you were born."
"how about my jalapeno?"

"bella, lick my finger!"

"for some reason, i feel like my skiis should have air conditioning. with a jalapeno on the side."

"are you wanting me to take you outside and roll your face around in the snow?"
"catch me first, fat boy!"

my family is so interesting. :)
jappy jalapenos and a merry christmas.

dear mr. harm...

dear mr. harm,
i genuinely hate your class.
all we ever do is talk about people that steal things and watch ridiculous snl videos on youtube.
so a week ago when you said we were going to get a project, i was actually kind of happy.
you asked us to do a photo essay.
personally, i think this is stupid.
i don't have a theme.
this is an english class.
not a digital photography class.
but, because i want an A, i did your stupid photo essay.
just because you are the xc coach,
you are not cooler than the rest of us.
trust me.
sincerely, your frustrated student,
jessica.

{my photo essay.}

tanksgivin'

i had a lovely thanksgiving.
lots and lots of friends came over, i ate the best turkey ever, and i rediscovered that i don't like stuffing.
thank heavens for costco pumpkin pie.
we forgot to buy ice cream, so ryan and i headed to albertsons.
we get home, and we can't find the box of potatoes anywhere. after calling michelle and larry, we decide that someone must have stolen them.
so, ryan and i headed back to the store to buy 13 pounds of potatoes.
then, i made a song.
twentyfive trips to the store on thanksgiving, twentyfive trips to the store...
{think 95 bottles of beer on the wall.}
but it turned out great.

black friday was also eventful.
**read: i got locked in the chicken coop.
but it wasn't so bad, it was warm in there, just a little smelly and noisy.
however, my cell phone was in the house, it was 8 degrees and fairly blizzarding outside, and everyone was inside gorging themselves on leftovers and pumpkin pie.
so i waited for someone to come out.
eventually ryan went outside to check on the dogs and let me out.
it was an adventure.

today?
sportsman's warehouse, red robin for lunch, new sunglasses, and frolicking with the animals in the snow. oh, and doing donuts on the 4wheeler. :)
perhaps this evening we'll set up christmas decorations.

it was a lovely weekend.
