makes me wanna take a backroad.

the first two weeks of school have been blissfully great.
my schedule is perfect. late start, seminary, and photography.
ap calc, ap english, ap government, ap econ, hon chem.
no big deal.
the field by the school is stacking their wheat.
its beautiful, so i had to stop and take a picture.
we won our football game friday [!!!!]
and bsu won theirs saturday. [!!!!]
the weather is still in the upper 80's low 90's,
but the mornings have a yummy crispness that only comes in fall.
my birthday is next week.
according to parker, its the sexy seventeenth that counts.
haha.
new favorite song.
remind me by brad paisley and carrie underwood.
or,
long hot summer by keith urban.
i can't choose.
or maybe lighters by bruno mars...
whoever invented favorites of everything is dumb.

jessica :)

summatime.

clara, ryan and myself got coupons to the shave ice shack.
if you're questioning the flavoring, you want guava, raspberry, lime, and strawberry.
yummmm.
here's to 80 degree weather.

farmland is beautiful during the summer. everyone just cut their alfalfa. potatoes and corn are just poking out of the ground. onions and mint are smellin' up the air. and i love it.

a certain young man came down with strep throat.
i'm taking him a diet coke today, cause we're best friends.

:)

jessica

i'm alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic!

i'm alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic,
i'm alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic,
i'm alive, awake, alert,
alert awake alive,
i'm alive awake alert, enthusiastic!

this beloved camp song was sung to me every day for a week for four years
to try and get me out of bed.
my siblings dread the task, and so did my camp leaders.
future roommates, beware.
holler for ycl's.

it's spring break,
and this is how i feel today.

summer and i went to the gym and ran 2 miles and did an intense ab workout.
she drove because she got her license two days ago. she did very well.
we played basketball with larry.

it was 67 degrees today.
i rode butterscotch and went on a mini trail ride.

i polished my saddle.
i cleaned the barn.
all my laundry is done.
[however, not because i did it, but because grandma is here:)]
i got a car wash.

i played with our new baby ducks and chicks.

mom, michelle, grandma, natali, ryan and i rolled up our pant legs
(some higher than others)
and tried to get the first tan of the season.
michelle swears she got burnt from the 25 minutes she was out there.
(she didn't)
i feel like winter is finally over.

the farmers are plowing their fields and preparing to plant.

leaves and debris from the winter are being burned.
the air smells so fresh i just want to run without stopping.
i can't stop smiling.

i feel alive.

oh, and i just mixed up some crystal light.
:)

nino.

nino is our special boy. he's the kindest and most fun pony we have on this place!
we can set a little kid on him and have them ride him around and it doesn't even phase him.
nino's story - el nino was a therapy pony at a ranch for disabled kids. he was cared for by these children as they learned about horses. he also pulls a cart. last march, my trainer told us that the therapy ranch was downsizing, and they had the most adorable mini horse for sale. we went and took a look at him, and the rest is history. nino is the family pet. he says hello and goodbye everytime we come outside, get into or out of our car, or even just open a door. if we're late feeding him, he literally yells at us until we give him his breakfast! or lunch.. or dinner... :) he loves little kids and he loves treats! his favorites are apples and candycanes. he also loves being groomed and playing with the other horses, and he can hold his own really well for being a little guy. We love our nino! :)

good ol' idaho fun

Yesterday, our friends the Didericksens invited us over to ride steers. RJ, Ryan's friend, went first to show ryan how to do it. Then, it was ryans turn. Rocky, rj's dad, tied the latigo onto the cow too tight and it fell over then ran bucking with ryan on its back. Ryan fell off and it kicked him in the chin. He now has a very impressive trophy of a FAT FAT lip and 7 stitches.

Cast-
