christmas is in the air.
last night, we gathered in the living room as a family and watched the first presidency's christmas devotional.
i felt so blessed to know the true meaning of christmas:
the birth of our savior.
the knowledge that he was born and died for us gives me such hope for the future.
today in seminary,
as we were singing our opening hymn,
the words of the song touched me.
"away in a manger, no crib for his bed
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head
the stars in the heavens
looked down where he lay
the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay."
"the cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes,
but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes,
i love thee Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
and stay by my cradle till morning is nigh."
"be near me, Lord Jesus, i ask thee to stay,
close by me forever, and love me i pray.
bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
and take us to heaven to live with thee there."
as i heard my class singing, tears filled my eyes as i realized just how much i was grateful for the sacrifices that Christ gave for us.
i quickly blinked to clear my eyes so i could continue to play the piano.
(did i mention i was playing and crying at the same time?)
that's talent.
we had a fabulous lesson about the spirit of christmas.
how christ was at the center, and how traditions and "rules" shaped the christmas season.
i love christmas.
kitty is obsessed with the christmas tree. she's seen napping under it every single day.
and night.
and day.
and sometimes nuzzling the branches.
or taking a bath on the tree skirt.
cool, bella. cool.
we set up our tree
(read: my mom and michelle set up and decorated the whole entire thing by herself. they're very particular.)
and we sat around and watched drinking hot tang and listening to michael buble's christmas album.
it never grows old.
so today,
i'm thankful for christmas.
